During the design process of a subterranean swimming pool, Kevin recognised the property was sitting above Counter's Creek and met with Thames Water and researched the
Counter’s Creek Sewer Flooding Alleviation Scheme.
Kevin advised the Client to take advantage of this scheme and designed a FLIPs into the drainage system of the swimming pool WC and changing areas, which influenced the foundation layout and supported flooding prevention.
As part of our client's project to refurbish a Protected Structure and Stud Farm, a need for a helipad arose, landing a Sikorsky S-76 single main rotor helicopter capable of carrying up to 13 passengers.
Kevin evaluated the property against ICAO Annex 14, Volume 2 (Heliports); Heliport Manual Document 9261-AN/903 and JAR-OPS 3, ICAO Annex 6 Part 3 (International Operations) – Helicopters.
Kevin conducted local research and gained prior approval from the Irish Aviation Authority. Kevin then obtained planning permission from Co. Meath Council for it's operation.
Our Client's new build farmhouse required sewage treatment to match the capacity of the new dwellinghouse.
Kevin designed the rainwater soakaways and drainage channels for a Klargester Biodisc sewage treatment unit, all in accordance with ground investigation, design specifications, and council approval.
“To ensure that the development does not create unsustainable surface water run-off or adversely affects important areas of bio and geo diversity in accordance with the National Planning Policy Framework and Policy CS 16 and CS17 of the West Berkshire Core Strategy 2006 - 2026.”
Our Client's contract to refurbish the Grade II Manor House warranted Bat Roost Inspections, Surveys and Design for the retention and re-housing of Brown Long-eared and Pipistrelle Bats.
Working with an Accredited Consultant, Kevin negotiated with Natural England and became the Mitigation License holder for the duration of the licensable activities.
Kevin scheduled the activities, devised the Precautionary Working Method Statement and designed the 'Bat Loft with Hot Box' and Morris batslates. Kevin also monitored key stages with a licensed bat worker and reported on progress.
Kevin's task was to apply for a Lawful Development Certificate for a proposed basement (adjacent to V&A Museum). RBKC refused the Certificate and advised the development did not represent permitted development.
Kevin appealed to the Planning Inspectorate, who allowed the appeal and granted a certificate.
Subsequently, RBKC challenged the Inspectorate's decision, however a judge agreed with the Secretary of State and dismissed the Council’s appeals, upholding the inspector's decision to grant the certificate.
Kevin went on to co-ordinate the development project.
